Local 825 Training Fund

With a total area of nearly 60 acres in New Jersey and New York and more than 90 pieces of equipment, we provide four-year apprenticeship courses for operators, mechanics and field engineers.

Both centers offer year-round training for members to brush up on skills, become certified or learn new skills. The centers offer both indoor and outdoor facilities so, regardless of weather, members may train and upgrade their skills year round.

The New Jersey training facility is located in the central part of the state and serves the needs of members from Cape May to Hunterdon and Bergen counties in the north.

The apprenticeship program includes a minimum of 144 hours of classroom and hands-on training each year.

State-of-the-art equipment and seasoned instructors prepare our members, apprentices and journey-level workers for the real world of heavy equipment and how to use it on the job.

After the training, apprentices are available for work at the trade and must have approximately 1,500 hours of work experience each year before they can advance to the next level of apprenticeship.

To be considered for acceptance into Local 825 you must:

• be at least 18 years of age.
• be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
• provide a birth certificate and valid drivers license.

We provide a wide variety of courses to allow members to upgrade their skills on the newest equipment, simulators and instrumentation.

Training to upgrade your skills is always a wise investment of time. But if you're out of work or between jobs, it's a no-brainer. Since you're out of work, you're not losing anything to participate in training. The training makes you more qualified and more attractive to employers. And you get paid to attend through the Training Fund.

With everything from heavy equipment operator training, emergency response training, hazardous waste operations, and OSHA training, to full-time, on-location instructors, Local 825's training sites ensure that Local 825 members are the safest, most highly skilled and experienced operators on any worksite.
